The first of the Rennie Games got underway with lots of new faces (and lots of talent) on the ice.
On paper the Munro rink (minus Dave Munro) against the Nicoll Jnr Rink looked an easy draw. It turned out to be anything but. Andy Aberdein skipping for Dave and new stars Emma Watson laying down excellent lead stones and Sean Barron playing excellently in third, taking the first four ends. Team Nicoll then threatened to make it a game of two halves, with a good draw for 3 and lying well in the sixth end, only to see a double bounce shot from Andy take the end. All was not lost as Sandy came crashing back in the final end, making a draw for 3 and securing a peel at 6 - 6.
On the other sheet the Forbes quartet taking on Team Ian Donald. Colin Walker, another new member, making his come back to the sport after several years, also performed well at lead but even with the support of JP and Shelagh, making a welcome return to her slide delivery, were unable to hang on. a stolen 4 in the fourth end enabled Team Donald to run out 7 - 4 victors.
