Rennie at 66% and a bit

With the competition having completed its second round (and a bit), it is fair to say that WE HAVE A
WINNER !

Congratulations to former president Andy Aberdein and his team of Graeme Maguire, Lindsey McConnell/Simon Kesley and Susan Stanton. They are the only team, in either competition, without a loss - but that has probably put a curse on them.  They did falter in last nights game losing five ends to two but none the less picking up a peel.  They were also the only rink on the ice (2 sheets) that had their skip playing!

Meanwhile, there is only ONE point and two ends separating the other three teams, so there are still things to play for.

Jackson Trophy

News is trickling through to Club Central that out teams result was like the "curates egg" (good in parts).

The competition is Edinburgh Curling Clubs 'Champion of Champions' event, as a result strong opposition was anticipated.  Our first game resulted in a very good win, this meant being pitted up against VERY strong opposition in the second game.  This went the other way with a convincing loss.

Well done anyway team on a good performance overall.

Young Retention

Congratulations to our Young Team of Sandy Nicoll, Karen Munro, Euan Forbes and Ali Breeze who retained the Young v Old title.  The Young team obviously thought that they needed to reduce the average age of their team and brought in a ringer, Ali Breeze.  Ali dropped the average age of the team by over 5 years.

As with recent years, it was a tight game and was finally decided by only a couple of shots, but the youngsters held their nerve.

Swan Trophy

Having got a bye to the Semi Finals, our two teams consisting of Andy McDiarmid, James Pate, Andy Aberdein, Susan Stanton, Sandy Nicoll Graeme Maguire, Keith Anderson and Roy Black,  won convincing games against Mid-Calder.   Meanwhile Oxenfoord humbled the might of Currie and Balerno.

The final, against Oxenfoord saw both teams face their challenges and at one point, were over six shots adrift.  The final ends saw both our teams secure two shots, resulting in a Peel for the McDiarmid team and a two shot defeat for Team Sandy.
